Welcome Back Review:
Welcome Back is an upcoming action comedy film. It stars John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. It is being directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. Welcome Back is scheduled to release on 4 September 2015.
Welcome Back is a sequel of 2007 release Welcome. The film was one of the biggest hit of that year. Not only that the film has been a huge success on television since release which endorsed the its popularity. So the expectations will be very high from its sequel. The only negative point is that Akshay Kumar is not in the lead.
Welcome Back Review: Story
Welcome Back starts from where the first part ended. Majnu and Shetty have now become the respectable businessmen in Dubai. One day the Shetty’s father came and tell them that he had another daughter (played by Shruti Hassan) from another marriage.
Now they want a decent boy for her to get married. They approached Dr. Ghungoro (Paresh Rawal) as his wife had another son from her previous marriage (played by John Abraham). But he is also a gangster.
In the mean time both the Bhais fall in love with a pretty young lady Chandni (Ankita Srivastava), a con woman who, along with her mother (Dimple Kapadia), decides to fool the gangster bros to loot them.
The hilarious events lead to the entry of Wanted Bhai (Naseruddin Shah) whose son (Shiney Ahuja) falls in love with Shruti. Now then Majnu and Shetty try to keep their sister being married either to Ajju or Wanted’s son while Ajju and Ghungroo try to get Shruti and Ajju married.
Too much confusion? Watch the film to understand (if you can).
Welcome Back Review: Direction, Editing Screenplay
The film has been written by Anees Bazmee, Rajiv Kaul & Raj Shandaliya. The first half is very good. The scenes between Uday Shetty and Manju are extremely funny. The comedy is also interesting, engaging and entertaining. Also, the pace of the drama before interval is fast and there are no boring moments too.
The film loses its pace in the second half. The scene where Wanted Bhai (Nasseruddin Shah) fight with Uday and Manju are hardly funny. The climax will be hard to digest for many people. Dialogues are very appealing, again, more so before interval.
Anees Bazmee’s direction caters to the masses and the family audiences, for whom the film is meant. The classes may approve less of the loud comedy but the film will appeal to the youth, masses and families. Music is average with Tutti Bole Wedding Di is a standout song which helps the film to build up well. Editing could have been tighter. The production values are high making it a delightful watch.
Welcome Back Review: Star performances
As for star performances are concerned, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor has out shined all the other actors. They both complement each other wonderfully and together they create entertainment galore. John Abraham does well especially in action sequences. Shruti Hassan is good but her expressions don’t vary much. Though her chemistry with John Abraham works well.
♦ One Liners
♦ Lose 2nd Half
♦ Over The Top Climax
Welcome Back Movie Review: Verdict
On the whole Welcome Back is a laugh riot. The film will score big especially at single screens. Give it a chance and have some laughs this weekend.
