Event management students from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Karachi

A team of twelve event management students from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Karachi, successfully held a Dawat-e-Ramzan event in an open garden at Khayaban-e-Momin under the guidance of Erum Masood, who advices setup businesses. The guests included a verity of notable individuals including the dean of Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Rasheed Noorani, senior anchor and analyst from PTV News, Hameed Bhutto, director and producer, Issac Solomon, CEO of Bizmax TV, Sarosh Khan and Express News reporter, Rauf Afridi, to name a few.The team, led by Urooj-e-Atiqa and Hansa Bakhtiar, consisted of mostly young ladies who took this as an opportunity to network and promote their new event management set-ups, and to put what they learned over the course of the semester into practice. This event was particularly noteworthy since the event was entirely crowd funded, all the funds were generated internally, and the team managed to secure generous contributions from sponsors such as Mohsin Feroz courtesy Scentsation, M.Arif Pardesi courtesy Cool & Cool and Ashraf Products. It was a family-friendly night full of entertainment and opportunities to network; there was live BBQ, a media booth and the recitation of naats and Sufi Kalams by the well-known Wali Hamid Ali Khan.

The night was a resounding success, and an excellent showcase of how a new generation of young, vibrant, Karachiite ladies are being empowered by educational institutions to make positive contributions to the community at large. Congratulations to the team for their efforts and hard work, and hopefully this was the first of many more such projects to come.
